One Day Trip from Naples
Naples to Ravello
UNESCO World Heritage Site
If you have time to get out of the city for a while, head in your Mini Cooper Cabriolet for the 60-km trip via E45 to the town of Ravello. It is located above the Amalfi Coast inside the province of Salerno. This scenic area has been a popular spot for tourists and it’s been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site since the year 1997.
One of the main spots to visit is the Duomo di Ravello Cathedral. This means “Pulpit of the Gospels” and was created in 1272. You might also want to see the Villa Rufolo which is located on a ledge and was built back in 1270. Make sure you also stop at the church of San Giovanni del Toro which dates to before 1000. Inside the Saint John of the Bull church, you’ll find the Bove pulpit which is dating back to the early 13th century.
If old churches are something you really enjoy, there is also a small church of Santa Maria a Gradillo. This dates back to the 11th century and features two isles, a basilica plan and an apse. You can also make a stopover at the Sanctuary of Sts. Cosmas and Damian dating back to the 14th century. Finally, end your sightseeing adventures at La Rondinaia, which means The Swallow’s Nest. It was built in the 1930s and sits on a cliff face. It was the residence of Gore Vidal until the year 2004.
Make sure you take a step away from all the sightseeing and churches to enjoy the views that many have deemed some of the best on the Amalfi Coast. In fact, by traveling in your luxurious Mini rental, you’ll have the best view possible as you make your way in and out of this remarkable town. Sit back and enjoy the moments with your loved ones.
